"All music either sings, dances, or tells a story." African drumming, Indian ragas, baroque waltzes and disco anthems all dance. Ancient traditions of religious chant, German lied, grand opera arias, and folk songs all sing. Opera, musicals, country songs, and epic orchestral tone poems (wordlessly!) all tell stories. There are many more examples in every category. The concert will feature a variety of works by many composers from different eras which are rooted in these three DIFFERENT avenues of musical expression.
